Dan Brown: Angels and Demons, The Davinci Code, Digital Fortress

Angels and Demons is the third book I have read by this author. It was better than Fortress but not as good as Code. The ending was entirely unbelievable in my mind and reminded me too much of the ending of a Scooby Doo episode where they take the masks off the bad guys and you figure out the good guys are the bad guys and vice versa. I like all the stuff I learn about the setting and religious symbology when I read his work, but I don’t particularly like his writing style.

The Davinci Code is quite interesting, but I don’t really like the writer’s tendency to end short chapters on cliffhangers. I feel like I am being toyed with, which doesn’t match the “high level” which the book seemingly wants to convey.

Digital Fortress is one of his early books. It is clumsy and filled with deus ex machina (very unlikely coincidences that happen at just the right time to help the story along).
