The Affair of the Necklace

Why do they choose American actors to play parts that require British accents? Has an American actor ever pulled it off? I don’t think so. This is a story of intrigue that takes place during the reign of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. The story is mildly interesting, but the movie is badly miscast and the story is recounted with a serious lack of finesse. The costumes are just okay, which is a serious failing in a film set in the lavish 1700s, and the necklace upon which this whole story is based is not even that impressive. I generally like historical pieces, so I wanted to give this one a chance. I had a feeling it would disappoint me, and in that respect, at least, it didn’t. (*)
