This movie starts out painfully amateurish. It seems like the kind of thing you might expect from a budding teenage director. But eventually it finds its groove and starts to impress you. The basic story is about two girls who have just graduated from high school and now have to come up with something to do with their lives. It is not a horror film and has nothing to do with ghosts. The movie was based on a comic book, but don’t let that turn you away. Also, there is a lot of gratuitous swearing, but don’t let that turn you away either. In the end, it ends up being a rather good, if clumsy, movie that really has something to say for itself. (I think I will buy the soundtrack as it includes lots of old blues and ragtime, and a 1965 Bollywood song called “Jaan Pehechaan Ho” that is really catchy.) (****)
