You’re going to yell at me, but I really think this movie would have been better with less boxing. I know, I know, it’s a movie about the most famous boxer ever. It’s a guy flick. Etc, etc. But as much as I think Muhammad Ali is a neat person to learn about, I don’t like boxing, and I don’t respect it as a sport. Sorry Muhammad! Anyway, the movie was interesting to watch, probably because I was intrigued with Will Smith’s portrayal of Ali. He is well-known as a comedic actor, so I wondered whether he could make a successful crossover to dramatic roles. He manages it very well, just as he managed to move from rap star to actor with nary a whimper from the usual critics. Very talented guy, not to mention easy-on-the-eyes. (****)
